This year we are excited to support Dr Melkamu Kokebie's attendance on the ADVAC course.

Melkamu Kokebie is a senior public health specialist with over 15 years of progressive experience across various levels of Ethiopia’s health system. His expertise spans maternal, child, and adolescent reproductive health, with a strong and sustained focus on immunization.

Over the course of his career, he has served in multiple capacities, including technical expert, supervisor, consultant, and program manager, contributing to the design, implementation, and oversight of large‑scale public health programs.

Currently, Melkamu leads the national immunization program at the Federal Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. In this role, he provides strategic leadership in the formulation and implementation of immunization policies, strategies, and guidelines; facilitates research and learning initiatives related to immunization and RMNCH services; mobilizes resources; and strengthens partnerships to advance both national and global immunization goals.

In addition to his program leadership responsibilities, Melkamu serves as the Secretary of the Ethiopian National Immunization Advisory Group (E‑NITAG), where he plays a key role in supporting evidence‑based decision‑making and providing technical guidance to inform immunization strategies in Ethiopia.

We wish Melkamu a productive and engaging time in Annecy.
